I have been visiting London for 40 years.And have always enjoyed the buskers.There was a very good duo in Covent Garden last sunday night and everyone enjoyed them until they started telling people how much to put in the box 2 pounds or 5 pounds and they said don,t put change in because they dide,nt want it which was very cheeky.H.
Buskers suggesting how much pay them?
Was it 2 men dressed in yellow costumes by any chance?! I didn't put anything in, I think donating is optional and after being told what to donate i opted to keep it myself! I bought some lovely warm nuts from a cart instead.
Reply:they are sad the reason they do not want change is the fact that banks charge to convert it and they might be asked why they have it and that would lead to tax questions so they do not pay tax or stamp
Reply:That will just be part of their patter, maintaining the "cheeky chappy" persona - I'm sure they would rather 10 people put in 50p each than just one putting in £2.
