PROBABLY evening dress?

What is the dress code for a night at the opera at the royal opera house covent garden?
quite formal, ie dress and suit with tie, the opera is much different to the normal theatre production, its special, i reccommend seeing the last night at the proms!!!its brilliant!
Reply:There is no dress code.

But it is always nice to have an excuse for dressing up in your finest.
Reply:It depends on the day of the week. I've been to Monday night shows and people are in all sorts. If it is Friday or Saturday, then very smart eg black tie for men and cocktail/long dresses for women is the order of the day. Otherwise smart clothes that you feel comfortable in. If you are going in a group, it makes sense to agree among yourselves if you are going in black tie or not.
Reply:It used to be formal, but things may have changed. Ring the Opera House.
Reply:casual/smart
Reply:Formal evening attire.

Ladies in long dresses gloves and opera glasses.

Men in evening suites with bow ties.

So many people ignore the rules and go in jeans and tacky shoes. Dress codes should be adhered to.
Reply:Ive been to many opera's (so boring) but i wore a skirt with a black fur coat jacket. and my dad wore kikes and a polo shirt with a leather jacket.
